Activate your license
Your purchase email has a license key that looks like this: ORIEL-7KQ2-M9XD-4HTW-PB3N. Add it once and you're done.
Add the key
- In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes and click Customize next to Oriel.
- Click the gear icon (Theme settings) in the left sidebar, then License.
- Paste your key into License key and click Save.
The key activates the first time it's used on a published theme. From then on it belongs to that store.
Lost the email?
Search your inbox for "Your Oriel license key", or write to support@orieltheme.com from the email you bought with and we'll resend it.
One key, one live store
- Development and staging stores are free. Unpublished themes, theme previews and the theme editor never use up your key, so you can try Oriel anywhere.
- Moving to a new store? Email support with the old and new store addresses (
your-store.myshopify.com) and we'll move the key. - Running more than one live store? Each one needs its own license.
What the messages mean
You only see a message when something needs fixing. A valid key shows nothing.
| Message in the theme editor | What to do |
|---|---|
| Add your Oriel license key in Theme settings > License. | Paste your key as described above. |
| This Oriel license key isn't valid. | Check for a typo. Copy the key straight from the email, including ORIEL-. |
| This Oriel license key is already active on another store. | The key is in use on a different live store. Email support to move it. |
| This Oriel license was refunded. | Refunded purchases no longer cover the store. Buy a new license to keep using Oriel. |
On a published theme without a valid key, shoppers see a small note in the corner of the page. Nothing else changes: the theme never turns off, hides content or blocks checkout.
When your updates year ends
Nothing happens to your store. Oriel keeps working exactly as it is, with no messages. You just stop getting new versions and support until you renew.
Privacy
To check the key, the theme sends your license key, your store's myshopify address and whether the theme is published to our license server. Nothing about your shoppers, orders or products is sent. The result is remembered in the browser for a few hours, so it doesn't slow down your store.
